It’s All About How You Look at it…

I’ve been looking at things from different perspectives lately. I’ve noticed that a lot of things have been bringing me down. So I decided to start looking at things from a different point of view.

Work has been crazy lately. I’m barely done with one project when two more come along. It never ends. So I decided to take the last week of the year off to recuperate and do the things around the house that I’ve wanted to do. I’ve really been enjoying the home improvement thing lately; it really gives me a sense of pride of ownership. So I’ve set a goal of things I need to do at work before Christmas. Having something to look forward to really helps in knocking off that to-do list.

My friends from San Diego are moving to Austin this weekend. They had a baby in June and could not get out from under their bills. Plus they were in no position to buy a house in San Diego (2 bedroom town homes are going for $500k). So they are packing up and moving to Austin. They already bought a 3-bedroom house there and are starting a new life. This made me really sad at first; it is like the end of an era. But now I’m thinking about how Ben & I packed up and moved to Oregon 2 years ago. That was such a hard time for us. Now I realize that it’s the best thing we could have done. There was no way that we would ever be able to own a house in San Diego. So we talked to our friends last night and decided that we will visit them in Austin in March. Then it dawned on me, South by Southwest is in Austin…in March. I’m so excited, I’ve always wanted to go.

It seems like I’ve let things bring me down very easily lately. Maybe it’s the gloomy weather, maybe it’s being overwhelmed at work. So I’ve decided to just throw all that crap out the window and look at things from a more positive perspective. So far so good!

Good for you! People who complain about things, but don't make an attempt to change them kinda bug me. Hope it works well for you! What's South by Southwest?

I just always try to have the attitude that it could be worse. Just think how lucky you are to have a great job, wonderful husband, 2 cute pups, a warm home, etc. It's the little things in life, really. Good for you and your new outlook on life!

sorry to hear your down...I would love to say i look at the bright side but I tend to be a complainer...only to Greg though...I have everyone else duped into thinking I am positive and cheery...at least I fake it well...

Seriously though, when I get like that I take a walk or do something outside for some reason it clears my head and helps to improve my mood...I was just complaining about money yesterday and then we did that hike I I was like "who needs money" we had such a great time...it lasted for like a few hours until I saw the cutest shirt that I restrained from buying...then i was like screw the woods...just kidding:)
