Must Vent Now

So I understand that losing weight takes time. To be honest, I am not a fat person, not even chubby. I weigh more than I should, although my doctor was really surprised at how much I weigh compared to looking at me physically. He even said "Wow, where is it all?"

The thing is I have high body fat. 36%. A woman my age/height is supposed to be at 29%. I joined the gym in December. I skipped 2 weeks that month due to a really bad case of the flu, but other than that I have been kicking ass. I do 45 minutes of cardio followed by 30 minutes of weights. In the last 2 weeks I have also added on a twice a week kickboxing class that goes for an hour. That kicks my ass. I work out at least 4 days a week.

The frustrating thing is, I am gaining weight. It pisses me off to no end getting on that scale and seeing another pound pack on. I'm 5 foot 2 so everything shows on me really fast. My jeans fit a little better, my ass is getting smaller & that's about it. I don't eat junk food, I barely eat carbs, I'm pretty healthy. So why the hell is the scale trying to kill me?

Maybe it takes more time when you're not in your 20s anymore. Maybe the muscle is developing faster than the fat can burn. MAYBE. All I know is that it makes it very difficult to make it feel worthwhile.

BigDubb said what I was going to say. Muscle weighs more than fat therefore it seems like you are gaining weight. If your clothes fit better then you are doing something right.

On a side note, I pictured you to be tall, maybe 5'-8" or so. I was surprised to learn how short you are. How do we get these images in our head?

Thanks for the encuragement, y'all. In the back of my mind I know that it's the muscle weight I'm seeing. I guess I'm just an immedite gratification person.
