Reality Is Harsh Sometimes

Do you ever make a realization that completely broadsides you and makes you realize that you are old? Here's how it happened to me recently.

I went to a Portland Trailblazers game on Monday night. They were playing the Golden State Warriors. I knew that Derek Fisher (former of my beloved Lakers) was recently traded to the Warriors, but I wanted to see who else was on the team. So, I looked up the team roster on their website. That's when I saw it...they list the players' birth dates on the site. 1986!!!! 1986, people! They have at least a couple of players that were born in 1986! Do you remember what you were doing in 1986? I remember it clearly. I was listening to Debbie Gibson and Wham! and watching the Facts of Life on TV. I was also 11 years old. All the while, these professional, and very rich, basketball players were busy being born.

Don't you consider yourself even more dumbfounded that you wasted time (and possibly money, but let's hope not,) on a silly basketball game?

No money was wasted, my company has season tickets. As far as the waste of time, not so much. I had fun.

Oh, I feel the same about people with 80s birthdates. It makes me feel ancient!
