I Love December

December is my favorite month of the year. And because I love lists, I’ve compiled a list of why I love this month so much.

1. My birthday. It’s the one day out of the year that’s just for me. I start to get birthday cards in the mail usually a week leading up to it. I don’t know why, but that’s the best part to me. That somebody actually took the time to think ahead and send me a card. Lately my mother in-law has been mailing me a present. That is so exciting for me because it’s usually something I need, and it always comes in a big box. And I always get some sort of gift certificate from my Mom, she understands my love for shopping.

2. Christmas. Since leaving California, I see my family about twice a year. Christmas is the only time when I see my entire family, including my in-laws, all in the same room. Christmas Eve dinner is hosted by my parents. We have a ton of Polish food and get all dressed up. In attendance are my in-laws, my brother’s in-laws, Ben’s brother and usually a few surprise guests. Last year we had 23 people. It was so much fun. I’m very much looking forward to this year’s festivities.

3. I love anniversaries. Today is the 2-year anniversary of my employment at my company. Now this is typically not a reason for celebration for most people. But I love my job and all of the opportunities it has given me. It can be stressful and overwhelming at times. But in the end, I always feel like I am making a difference and that things would be very different without me. I’ve never felt this way about a job before.

4. It’s the last month of the year. I love change. I love the idea that with every new year come new opportunities. I’m looking forward to 2006 and all the things it has to offer.

Other than the nippy air, I like December as well. Looks to be a fun filled month for you!
