The Gut Knows

The other day I was all excited about yoga class. My husband, whom we will refer to as B from now on, wanted to go with me. He had a tough day at work and wanted to unwind.

So I grabbed my new Nike yoga mat and matching tote and headed out the door. A whole 30 minutes before class! I'll get a great spot!

So we're 1/2 way there when B says to me "Hey, I drive out here all the time, I do jobs in this area a lot. Let's take this shortcut I know, it will be so much faster."

Cue the dramatic music. DUN DUN DUN!!!

But, not wanting to create tension right before a relaxing class, I obliged.

So we drive...and we drive...and we drive. Then he says "The studio is in Multnomah Village, isn't that it right there?" To which I reply "The yoga studio is indeed in Multnomah Village, but that ain't Multnomah Village."

Realizing that we were nowhere even near the vicinity of the studio, he realized his mistake and tried to steer us back on the right track. I could do nothing at this point but oblige, I didn't know where the hell I was.

Needless to say, we never made it to yoga that night. But I did get taken out to a nice Italian restaurant where much alcohol was consumed.

The moral of this story is two-fold:

1. Never ever ever take any kind of shortcut when you need to be somewhere at a certain time.

2. If your passesnger offers directional advice and a little dude in your gut screams "Nooooo....don't do it!" Listen to him.
